Four Hindi films have crossed Rs 300 crore net in 2026, and one of them is Border 2, with Sunny Deol in a lead role. As Ramayana, in which he plays Hanuman, nears release, here is a look at the club and his place in it.

The four films

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, quoted by NDTV, said Drishyam 3 is the fourth Hindi film to enter the Rs 300 crore net club in 2026, after Dhurandhar 2, Border 2 and Hanuman Ansh. Drishyam 3 crossed the mark on Oct. 11 and is Ajay Devgn's first Rs 300 crore film.

Border 2

Movie Talkies lists Border 2 as the film that took Varun Dhawan into the Rs 300 crore club, with Rs 315 crore. Koimoi reports that the film grossed about Rs 483.25 crore worldwide, making it Sunny Deol's second-highest-grossing film after Gadar 2, which earned Rs 685.19 crore worldwide. His film Jaat earned Rs 120.6 crore, according to the same Koimoi report. Koimoi also says that with Border 2 Deol crosses the Rs 1,200 crore post-COVID milestone globally across his films.

Hanuman Ansh

Film Information's weekly report says Hanuman Ansh was still drawing audiences in its tenth week, with a 10-week total of Rs 313.25 crore. A weekend table from Sacnic lists its total at Rs 339.71 crore. The two trackers differ, which is common.

Deol's next

In Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, Deol plays Hanuman opposite Ranbir Kapoor's Rama, according to India Today. The film is due on Nov. 5, though an earlier report quoted the producer as saying Nov. 8 in India. Koimoi asked whether the film could give him a third post-COVID success without a sequel benefit, a question that can only be answered after release.

Why the club matters

A Rs 300 crore net is a trade benchmark and not an award. Still, it separates the biggest hits from the rest in a year when many mid-budget Hindi releases opened to dull houses, as Film Information noted about this week's new films. Four films in under ten months is a healthy count, and the next entrant could be Ramayana.

The comparison with Gadar 2

Koimoi's framing is that Deol's two biggest post-COVID releases, Gadar 2 and Border 2, are both sequels, which is why it asks whether Ramayana can succeed without a sequel benefit. Gadar 2 is also on Movie Talkies' list as his first Rs 300 crore film, at Rs 515 crore in 2023. Border 2 therefore adds a second entry to his tally of Rs 300 crore Hindi releases, though in it he shares the lead with Varun Dhawan, who is the actor Movie Talkies credits with the milestone.

A fan's trivia sheet

Which film in the 2026 club is a sequel to a 1997 war drama? Border 2. Which is the third part of a crime franchise? Drishyam 3. Which one has the longest run? Hanuman Ansh, in its tenth week by Film Information's count. We have not checked Dhurandhar 2's figures and so do not quote them.

What we could not confirm

We could not confirm the Dhurandhar 2 figure, since we did not review a source for it. We could not confirm the Border 2 and Hanuman Ansh totals from the producers. Trackers disagree, and the Koimoi worldwide figure is a gross while the club uses net India. We have not verified the Rs 1,200 crore milestone claim beyond Koimoi's headline.
